The first room of Shandorways is the Parlor. Upon entering, one is greeted by two gargoyles, both rather large, both rather strong and fast, one with wings. They relay (mentally) to a standard servant troll that a visitor is at the 'gates' as well as the visitor's reason for being there, and then the troll goes to Shandor. (What actually happens is that the troll is fed constant information, as opposed to the guardians gathering it and then sending it.) Three people (besides Shandor) are currently allowed immediate access beyond the guardians: Alana, her 'maid,' and Despil, (these three, while having their own access to Shandorways, are accompanied by an alert sent to the alert orb nearest Shandor; these orbs announce to Shandor when a living entity passes beyond the border marked by the guardians. they work by glowing blue initially, then showing an image of the person, [physical, as well as magical and aural], entering the Ways). There is no orb in the Parlor. Others, (Flark, Seonaid, Fendrith, Mandor, Jurt, Julia, envoys of the king, [as well as the king himself, though he probably wouldn't ever come]), are treated respectfully by the guardians. All others are treated neutrally. So far, no one has been put on the 'kill on sight' list. Over the gateway the guardians guard is an inscription in Thari: "Welcome to my Parlor." The Parlor empties into the Antechamber, a large, circular, domed room with green marble columns along the walls, arches leading off to other parts of the Ways, and a frescoed ceiling depicting Shandor's own interpretation of the taming of the Logrus by Suhuy. The floor of the room is laid with tiles displaying an intricate image of the Logrus. An image that has a tendency to shift. (This can be deduced by anyone who looks closely enough: Shandor has invested a precise amount of Chaos into the floor and tiles themselves so that the tiles can change their positioning on the floor, but the floor does not lose its floor-like qualities, nor does any of it desolve into nothingness.) The shifting of the floor happens quite slowly, but faster when a conscious entity is not observing it; it is never, however, completely motionless. To make it so would unbalance the precise amount of Chaos invested into it. There are twelve arches in the Antechamber, eight are white, four are black. The white ones are ways to other parts of the Ways, the black are not; they are there for when Shandor wishes to expand. And these arches do not lead to hallways, as one might think; rather, they are just arches built into the walls of the circular Antechamber. One of the arches leads back to the Parlor. Upon passing back past the guardians, they check the visitor to make sure that s/h/it is not carrying off any unlent items. Another of the arches leads to Shandor's bedroom, and the activation of this way requires a key: Shandor's conscious will that the way be opened. (Inside the area designated Shandor's Bedchambers is his personal study, as well as personal bath. There is also a special sensor at the arch to his bedroom that will send an image to the nearest orb to him an image, [same kind as earlier] of whoever is attempting to enter there. The troll, Reginald by name, merely stands at the arch if he has to alert Shandor of a visitor, knowing only that if he stands there, Shandor will notice.) Another arch leads to the laboratories, which are sheilded from incoming and outgoing forces; this minimizes the chances of something outside interfering with experiments, or with experiments interfering with something outside. Then there is the physical armory, which houses weapons and armor of diverse types, both mundane and magical. The magical armory, however, houses only magical items and potions, as well as scrolls. The library houses the tomes of knowlege that Shandor has collected over his short lifetime, and will undoubtedly grow as time progresses. Next, the sitting rooms offer a place where Shandor can entertain guests. They are all furnished comfortably, with windows that open (oneway: visual only, and one can only see out of it) into different Shadows. Each sitting room gazes out upon a different Shadow: the Blue Room looks out into a sea full of myriads of life; the Red Room looks out upon a volcanic wasteland; the Black Room looks out into the emptyness of space; the Green Room sits observing a lush forest. The last arch leads to the hub of hallways to guest quarters. Currently, Shandor has only built one guest quarter, and it was fashioned in the style of the Blue Room. It also has its own bath. And last, but not least, the Hidden Way. This can also be accesses from the Antechamber, but not through the wall-arches like the others. To activate this way, one must first bring up the Logrus. Then one must look down upon the image of the Logrus set in tiles on the floor of the Antechamber. Taking careful notice of how the Chaos is distributed in the floor and tiles, (something few Lords of Chaos have been able to match in Shandor), one must shift the Chaos in those tiles/floor just right, thus opening the secret way. Mind you, one must not add to or subtract from the amount of Chaos; rather, the Chaos must be, well, shifted around in the design. (The Chaos in the black tiles representing the Logrus must be moved towards the center of the image, and the Chaos in the white tiles [the background, as it were] must be moved to the outer sircumference of the floor. This opens up the way in the center of the floor.) Right now this leads to nothing, but Shandor plans to construct a scrying well there, so that he might scry. Anything else you want in the way of descriptions? There were a few things I forgot when I typed the last one. The troll can Send to the guardians, (unlike the constant Feed that he receives from them), used mostly so the guardians can tell the visitor that 'the master has been informed and will be here shortly to see you. Time flows throughout his Ways-- 1x Speed: Guest Rooms, Parlor, Antechamber, Sitting Rooms, Hidden Room; 1.5x: Shandor's Rooms; 2x: Library; 10x: Laboratories.
