Alwyne - A few shadow based powers, competent sorceror. A construct. Amadan - Likely some power from out in shadow. Accomplished sorceror and swordsman, fae. Arric - It's all in the spy report. =) Dominic - Sorceror, some other weird stuff. Doesn't quite scan right. Almost a psychic neutral naturally. Errol - Strong Pattern. Giles - Strong Pattern, construct. Jack - Strong Shapeshifting, most likely, and a few things that you have no idea about. Some of it seems to be similar in some ways to fae abilities, but is definitely _not_ fae. Jordan - Strong Sorcery, Pattern. Jorrel - Construct, strong sorcery, Pattern, some other source of energy that veritably fills him. Kel - Sorcery, Trump, Strong Pattern. Kyle - Pattern, strong tie to Neville, lots of magical artifacts, fae. Liam - Pattern, Strong Trump, fae, power source out in shadow. Magenta - ___ Malcolm - Pattern. Marcus - ___ Neville - Pattern, Strong Trump, strong tie to Kyle, fae. Ohngenriki - Strong shapeshift, strong tie to Arden. This isn't entirely complete, as some people haven't turned in their spy reports. Some people have been planting false rumors, so there's some bullshit in this report as well. ------ Alwyne - A few shadow based powers, competent sorceror. A construct. ------ Alwyne seems to have some potent powers at his back off in shadow of an unknown nature that he accesses through a construct of some sort. Rumor: It is thought that he may be having an affair with the fifteen year old daughter of his Hawking master. Truth: The girl is what Alwyne would call a 'Sensitive;' she can empathize with and influence animals (Ever read Hawkmistress in the Darkover series by Marion Zimmer Bradly?). Alwyne has spent considerable amounts of time with her to help train and develop this gift; often in the privacy of his quarter (which are shielded against intrusive thoughts and distractions). Reaction: Alwyne doesn't really care what others think of the situation, unless it is going to undermine the girl's own development or get in the way of important work. Rumor: Alwyne is somehow involved in Necromantic practices within Amber. Truth: This rumor most likely stems from the fact that Alwyne sometimes calls upon and talks with the 'ghosts' from Tir-na Nog'th. ----- Arric ----- Relations with Oberon: She believes that Cassia just wasn't strong enough to handle being queen of Amber, so she didn't get into much strife with her father there. When she was young, she argued with him because their passionate natures clashed due to similarity (ostensibly because she refused to accept the passive woman role that happened with so many of his wives), but after returning from shadow, she had matured quite a bit, and they came to be pretty close friends- well, as close as you could get to Oberon. They drifted apart after she married, for he did not approve of her husband, and Roald's dislike of Oberon was relatively well-known. She tried to reconcile things, but neither backed down, and so she just naturally came to spend less time with her father. Then, when her husband was murdered, she threw herself into her work and began referring to Oberon mostly as 'the king'. She hasn't spent as much time with anyone as she did before, but you get the idea she's colder to him than she was. Relations to Amber: Dead loyal. She'd give her life for it. Powers, arcane doodads, etc: Most importantly, somewhere you picked up the knowledge that a long time ago Oberon attuned her to the _Jewel_of_Sovereignity_ (which probably has something to do with her excellence as a judge of character). Slightly less important, but still undoubtedly very interesting: She's got Broken Pattern, and seems quite an expert with it-- she can teleport using it, certainly, and seems to do so pretty off-handedly. It probably explains most of the magic powers she might be credited with. Shadows: Most of the time she spends in shadow is in a particular one of hers called Roanoake- that's where she spent the 35-some years early in her life before becoming Captain, also. A lush green forest, lots of gems- common thread in accounts of it is a intelligent, moving tree. She's somehow high in the government there- her title is Emissary. She usually leaves for there through the undertunnels of Amber. If you've tried to get there, let me know... In general: She's a rather good swordsman and tactician and not too shabby in strength and endurance and power of mind as well. Weaknesses: Uses Broken Pattern more than whole Pattern. Doesn't have much magic about her, generally relying on others for that. Stubborn. Too singleminded these days. Alder's still looking for something to blame and attack for his father's and sister's deaths, and could possibly be turned against her. As for deep secrets in her past, or strange obsessions, or what-have-you, she's pretty straight arrow (stodgy)- no material for blackmail, as far as you can find. Most of her past is open. Her family: Roald had Broken Pattern. Vesper was probably too young when she died. Alder is pretty damn good with it. Right now, it's hard to track his location more specifically than just "shadow," though Arric's still in contact with him. Relations with others: She's deep friends with Errol. There's no one she hates. The Castle Guard: All of the Six (her high officers), as far as you know, also have Broken Pattern, at varying degrees of skill. 1) Loria's magic is powerful, though every once in a long while it rings black. 2) Vasily is slick as hell. 3) Gnift would probably be forgiven the accidental murder that drove him from Rebma. It was a long, long time ago, and he's just about the only one who remembers it, but he can't forgive himself. ----- Giles - Strong Pattern, construct. ----- Giles is considered to be very close to his brother Jorrel, and fanatically loyal. He wears several pieces of Jewelry which are thought to be sentient. During his absence from Amber, he was romantically involved with an unknown woman. He has not entered into any other serious relationships since. He spent several years tutoring Kyle in Begma, and the two became quite close. He spent a good number of years studying under Dworkin, but what the subject matter in question is unknown (unless the information is gotten from Dworkin, perhaps). During his early years, Giles studied under a man of the court named Alaric. Oberon had the man imprisoned and Alaric died during his internment. Some say that Giles is still extremely bitter. Siduri's death was not an accident. There was an intensive investigation into her death, but the records were never released and have since turned up missing. When not in Begma or Amber he likes to spend his off time in a certain high-tech Shadow he calls "Swingtown." When not there, he's often out climbing mountains somewhere off in Shadow. Giles never seems to lose track of time, even when off in the varying timestreams of Shadow. ---- Jack ---- (separate file) --- Kel - Sorcery, Trump, Strong Pattern. --- Has a spy network of some sort. Has some allies in the Courts of Chaos. Origin is one of Oberon's big secrets. > Why is Kel called Oberon's "right hand"? (Oh, this sounds pointed...) Because he's represent's Oberon's interests abroad in a public sense. > What did he do to get the position of Foreign Minister? From what you can tell, a lot of ass kissing. He's also got a fair amount of diplomatic relations abilities. > What are his qualifications? He seems to have a fair amount of experience in diplomatic relations. > Who is his mom? Where is she from? No one's sure. You seem to gather that the person Kel believes to be his mom is in a shadow he can no longer reach. > What's the big deal on the keeping quiet about her? Doesn't appear to be any big deal. > In short, I want details about Kel. Not a whole lot of details. He's just a very capable, if young, politician. No real dirt, unless you count the occasional innocent mistake. Oh, and you get the impression that Kel was sort of groomed for the position. > If this is _all_ of the "dirt" that's available on him, > then does that mean that he spent _all_ of his 196 points > on just three Powers (Pattern, Trump, Sorcery), > one or two contacts in Chaos, and a spy network in Amber? > > Also, what does Liam know about his contacts in Chaos? > Any specific House? He's been spotted in House Helgram... (Note: Liam's chaos devotee is Galen _Helgram_, one of the sons of Lord Helgram.) ---- Kyle - Pattern, strong tie to Neville, lots of magical artifacts, fae. ---- - the key under the doormat at the Garden Retreat. - Cabhein (a dwarf), appears to have forged a few potent artifacts for Kyle. Kyle's payment to the dwarf was aiding him steal from a dragon. The dragon wants Kyle dead. - Kyle and Neville were once in love with the same woman, a girl named Dorothy and had a falling out over her. Dorothy is also known to have been a demon, slain by Oberon, after she and Neville tried to steal the Jewel of Judgement and destroy the Pattern. - Kyle possesses the Fae Sight. - There is an entrance to the secret passageways in his old room. - Kyle has a rather meagre grasp of Pattern powers. - Kyle posses an armband that protects him from psychic attack. - Kyle has more than 1 Deck of Trumps. - Neville has provided Kyle a number of trapped trumps, drawn in Liam's style of art. ("Style of art" in the _artistic_ sense, not in the metaphysical. Anyone with "Sense Trump" can determine who _actually drew them. Also, they self-destruct after one use.) - Kyle has alliance with Magenta. - Kyle is slowly raising an army off in shadow. - Kyle gains information from spies planted by a King in shadow. - Neville is Kyle's ally now. - Esther is believed to be either Neville or Kyle's daughter through Dorothy. ---- Liam - Pattern, Strong Trump, fae, power source out in shadow. ---- Oh, FWIW, I'd like for some of *my* agents to be able to determine which of my siblings knows what about whom. Here is a list of possible "tidbits" that a spy or group of spies might be able to determine about Liam. 1. Liam has a limited, specialized form of shapeshifting. He can adjust some of his facial features to emphasize his "elven" heritage: lengthen his ears, make his eyes more cat-like/"elven", and so on. This shapeshifting is not sufficient to disguise himself. Anyone who knows him in "Liam as a Human" form will easily recognize him in "Liam as an Elf" form. 2. Liam's "horse", Quicksilver, has [at least] one alternate form. Your spy/spies reported seeing QS in the form of an ogre-sized Golem. [Note to GM: Please select most appropriate "form" from among these: pegasus; ogre-sized "golem"; wyvern; sportscar; aircraft] 3. Liam has contacts in, and frequently visits, Shadows that are extremely remote. 4. Liam's mother is a pixie in a Faerie Shadow of "Wee Folk". Liam's maternal "family" is comprised of various types of faerie, such as sprites, pixies, dryads, brownies, leprechauns, gnomes, ogres, and trolls. 5. Liam has one or more associates who frequently Trump him. ------- Malcolm - Pattern. ------- Malcolm is the son of Oberon and Dhaeru, former High Priestess of shadow Meru. He is married to his eldest sister, the current High Priestess. It is rumored that the High Priestess has many lovers, none of them male. Malcolm is a sorcerer. ------- Neville - Pattern, Strong Trump, strong tie to Kyle, fae. ------- - Esther is either Kyle or Neville's daughter - Neville possesses a number of ties to Chaos - Neville is an accomplished trump artist - Neville has several allies in Amber in various positions - Neville was with Amadan when he attacked Amber - Dorothy, Neville's love, was a demon of Chaos, who sought to gain the Jewel of Judgement and destroy the Pattern with Neville's help. ---------- Ohngenriki - Strong shapeshift, strong tie to Arden. ---------- That Prince Ohngenriki is a completely different man in Arden than he is in Amber. * Morale amung the Rangers has greatly increased since he took over generalship Oberon is glad to have this strange child out of the way. Prince Ohngenriki never sleeps * Arden forest is alive * It is too dangerous to leave The Path(s) in Arden. The Paths are never the same twice. The Paths sometimes alter as you walk them. There are Natives in Arden - though no one's ever seen them and even very drunk Rangers scoff at the notion. The very trees in Arden move * Prince Ohngenriki can appear and disappear at will in Arden. * Prince Ohngenriki always seems to know what goes on in the Forest.
