------ Amadan ------ - Seen in the vicinity of Arden a few times - Shadow contains a partial pattern (for a really good spy network) - Decent spell caster ------- Dominic ------- Dominic's outward manner is a lie. In truth, he is a hateful, power-worshiping man who sees his siblings but as tools. The mistreatment without consequences of his mother and his step-mothers has taught him that power makes it's own rules. He knows and dislikes in some ways his own cynicism but cannot deny it. He hates Oberon for making him like this and he has vowed to destroy Oberon and install himself in his place, though only when the time is right and success is assured. He has placed agents about Amber and the surrounding kingdoms, his men from the crystal cave. Their crystals have been reshaped by him into plain platnium bands, with only the symbol of the Wyvern, his true symbol, carved on their insides. For now, he watches and waits in shadow, safe from the eys of spies and his siblings. (Loki's comment on Dominic): "He's hard to find by trump even when travelling through shadow, and his base of operations is immune to even my probing. He... he just doesn't scan." > Is the _entirity_ of Dominic's shadow impenetrable to Loki, > or is it just the Crystal Cave itself which cannot be scanned? The cave. But it's a pretty extensive deal. > So Loki _can_ send some of Liam's agents to and from the Shadow itself, eh?... He can try. I would be the crudest method of infiltration, though. ----- Errol ----- Age, estimate: 400 years. Age, apparent: 30 years. Physical description: very tall and imposing. Brown curly hair, moustache. Solemn, wide, strong face, with big nose. Dark blue eyes. Loud. Wears reds or violets, lined with gold. Armed when on duty (only?). Weapons may vary, recurrent are long sabre and crossbow. Has been spotted wielding expertly a halberd. Observed demeanor: friendly, sociable. Sometimes rash. Reported to have spontaneously offered to a recognized spy a drink and an interview. Approach with caution: considered extremely efficient in both armed and unarmed combat. Excellent shot with bow and crossbow. Trained, charismatic military commander. Proficient sleuth, very observant. Unparalleled leaps. Combat behavior: direct, brutal. Clever, in bluffing or exploiting a weakness. Definitely expect tricks, and hits below the belt. In all documented occasions, Errol always accepts surrender, always takes prisoners. Magic: he demonstrates no magical abilities or potential. Movements: Errol is almost always in Amber or in Amber City's immediate vicinity. Known to take a short period of holidays in Shadow, approximately a month every two years, sometimes more. Inside the city, Errol's movements appear erratic and unpredictable. He makes no 'rounds' as such, but he is often on the move. He rarely sleeps in the same place for two nights in a row. Favourite sleeping places are: his chambers in the Palace, his cabin aboard the ship 'Majesty' in the harbor, his estate outside the West Gate, his room in the upper floor of the restaurant 'At the Center of the Universe', and his office. He also spends many nights in friends' houses and in various inns and hostels. The only reliable habit is his going to Tir-na Nog'th alone, on one day of the first week of the third month, every year (observed six years in a row and counting). Further investigations suggest that is the approximate date of his wife's burial. Weaknesses: known to drink to an excess, thus lowering his guard. This has not been comfirmed in a situation of danger, and could be the result of good acting. He certainly demonstrates an uncanny resistance to alcohol. Friends (royal family): Very close to Arric; loyal to Jordan and Marcus; on good terms with Kyle. Extremely loyal to the crown, especially in times of crisis. Enemies: none known. A certain antipathy towards Magenta and Ohngenriki can be discerned. Not likely to last, however. Other facts of note: *experts claim they do not fully understand how the sewers work. There may be some kind of system that keeps them clean and unobstructed. Infrequently, water can be heard rushing through them, but no spring has yet been found. *Errol is known for his elasticity in applying the law. He definitely has a soft spot for women and children. Death is usually changed to lifelong exile if he has a say in the matter. He shows no mercy towards murderers. *it has been noticed that Errol can get to places in town very quickly. Though it has not been possible to discover secret passages, there may be some, still hidden. He also takes short cuts over the roofs. And a couple of his guards - the worse for drink - claim they once have seen him vanish into thin air. It is most probable he has some means of teleporting in town; either many Trumps, or something else entirely. *Gren Tuckest, a wealthy grain merchant, is his contact with Amber's underworld. Errol willingly allows a thieves' guild to survive, as long as there are no murders, and the guild keeps independent criminal activity under firm control. *At night, Errol sometimes talks for long hours with one or more visitors. The place - always a different one - is usually closed, the voices hushed, and the visitor(s) do not come nor go through the doors. At least one of them is an old man. Errol talks to him in a warm but respectful tone. ------ Jordan ------ 1) Connections to Rebma Jordan is extremely connected in Rebma. Little that goes on there will ever escape her attention. She is, for all practical purposes, the rule of Rebma. It may be inferred that King Poe is merely a puppet, though in reality things may not be so cut and dry. It is more of a matter of astounding popularity. In the eyes of the native people Jordan can literally do no wrong. It is to Jordan's advantage that she has never broken this trust, and is a benevolent figure. King Poe's 'own' policies guarantee that this popular support will not cease in the foreseeable future. This situation has existed for over 200 years, and shows no sign of subsiding. 2) Loyalty to Amber Jordan seems to consider Amber and Rebma (and, presumably Tir) one realm, and that everything in the interests of one are squarely in the interest of the others. For her first 200 years she fought valiantly in defense of Amber, culminating in the battle that earned her her Rebman support. This investigator cannot ascertain Jordan's reaction should the interests of Rebma and Amber ever conflict. None of her actions to date would indicate that she would renege on her responsibilities to Amber, but her strong position in Rebma and popular support there make for a strong argument otherwise. 3) Connections to Family The three eldest siblings stick together like glue. Nobody has come between Errol, Marcus, and Jordan in their entire 400 years. If the three were to function as a cabal, they would indeed be powerful. Jordan has taken Liam on as an apprentice of sorts, serving as his teacher in the magical arts. They have a good rapport, and can be considered at least close friends. 4) Line to the Throne Jordan is the first born to Oberon, and has a strong, legitimate claim to the throne. However, neither she nor Oberon have spoken publicly on the matter. Jordan is also the explicit heir-designate to the Throne of Rebma, a position she would hold with the popular endorsement and support of the people of Rebma. 5) Resources Jordan is a Sorcerer's Sorcerer. Her knowledge and authority on matters magical are beyond question. Jordan maintains a significant personal entourage in Rebma which is well trained, and which continues to drill together. She is, however, seldom seen in the company of many of them at once, though usually with at least one or two of them. Jordan controls Aramwir, and the degree of her connection to the sword is not known. Jordan position in Rebma also confers upon her the title of High Admiral of the Rebman Armed Forces (Navy). The Military is fiercely loyal to her, but is sworn to defense of Rebma. Anything she says is in defense of Rebma, is, however, as far as they are concerned. Jordan spends roughly a third of her time in Amber. She does not travel extensively in Shadow. Jordan's personal quarters include a fully provisioned magical research library. 6) Dirt Rebma is a promiscuous society, and Jordan is no exception. She does not, however, dally while in Amber. Jordan has never been wed, and has no known children. Details of her many social liaisons would consume several volumes and are not enumerated here. ------ Jorrel ------ Jorrel is close to his brother Giles and the two spent the majority of their youth in eachother's company, whether in Amber, Begma, or off in shadow. On most occasions when Jorrel has been in the presence of King Oberon he has been accompanied by his elder brother Giles. Jorrel is known as a dabbler in the arcane arts in Amber. But it could be heard in Begma, and especially in the city of Merille, that Jorrel is a rare talent in the arts. It is said that Jorrel himself created the wonders which transformed a once dry and arid village into the rich city-state of Merille with its vast and lush countryside. Normally only found at home in Amber or Begma, Jorrel left the Golden Cirle about 50 years ago and was not seen for many years in either Amber or Begma. After his return he was seen talking to himself in the halls of Amber and laughing at absolutely nothing at all. Since then he has been deemed by the castle servants an absent minded sevant, a man so wrapped in his studies that he does not always know that he has missed meals or sleep for days. The castle servants have now taken it upon themselves to bring him meals and urge him to his quarters for sleep. Jorrel has taken a liking to the young daughter of an Amber noble. Her name is Mira and she is the daughter of Lord Harlin, a noble who made his fortune trading with the Golden Circle. For want of secrecy and the need to keep any scandal from reaching the court of Amber the two meet in private . Either in the gardens at night when court is held, or they meet at a small family estate of the Lord Harlin that is kept for his daughter a day's sail up the coast from Amber. Jorrel has been seen walking through the complex of the Church of The Unicorn discussing theology with Magenta Fairbane. Jorrel has been seen speaking with Kel the secretary of state for Amber. It could be found out that Liam was a guest in the city Mirelle in Begma at least once. > For what it's worth, Loki does not a similarity between the power that Jorrel has, > and the power in Arden. It's a bit more... pure in Jorrel, than in Arden. > > The power in Arden has a fae streak to it, and this one is a bit more like it. > It's not like the fae power... it just has a strong link to the fae.
