A Bride for Merlin
Powers, pt. 2
This document gives further details for all of the Powers (both "standard" and optional) available to characters in the Amber DRPG campaign A Bride for Merlin, run in Atlanta, GA, by Franklin W. Cain.
PatternThere are at least two distinct, separate Patterns known to exist: there is the original Pattern, the Pattern of Amber, the one first inscribed by Dworkin and later re-drawn by Oberon; there is also the new Pattern, the one inscribed by Corwin.
Only those characters who are descended from the blood of Dworkin (by whatever means and to whatever degree) can have any form of this Power.
Also, since mere contact with the Pattern is usually enough to destroy even the most powerful of Demons, no Demon character can ever have any form of Pattern.
Any character who starts play without some form of this Power (even if all he has is the Latent form) CANNOT later acquire any form of this Power.
Pattern Imprint [50]
Anyone having this Power must also have a Psyche of at least Amber Rank, and an Endurance of at least Amber Rank.
Advanced Pattern Imprint [75]
Anyone having this Power must also have a Psyche of greater than Amber Rank, and an Endurance of greater than Amber Rank.
Latent Pattern Imprint [10]
Anyone having this Power must also have a Psyche of at least Amber Rank, and an Endurance of at least Amber Rank.
Broken Pattern
There are rumors about flawed, warped, or broken reflections of the Pattern of Amber, supposedly created when the Primal Pattern of Amber was marred by Brand's attempted sacrifice of Martin. It is said that by walking the breaks in one of these flawed Patterns will give the walker power over Shadow. (However, it is almost always mentioned as being a flawed control of Shadow.)
Since this Power is weaker than either "true" Pattern or the Logrus, no true child of Oberon or of Chaos would sully themselves by acquiring this petty gimmick. However, for a denizen of Shadow, this could be the ticket to world-dominating power!
As with the "true" Patterns, mere contact with one of these so-called Broken Patterns is thought to be enough to destroy most Demons. Therefore, no Demon character may have this Power.
Initiate of a Broken Pattern [10]
Anyone having this Power must also have a Psyche of at least Chaos Rank, and an Endurance of at least Chaos Rank. However, if the character has any Bad Stuff, these attributes must each be at least Amber Rank.
Adept of a Broken Pattern [25]
Anyone having this Power must also have a Psyche of at least Amber Rank, and an Endurance of at least Amber Rank. However, if the character has any Bad Stuff, these attributes must each be greater than Amber Rank.

Any character who starts play without some form of this Power (even if all he has is the Latent form) CANNOT later acquire any form of this Power.

Advanced Mastery of the Logrus [70]

Magic - Alternate
I want to experiment with this alternate packaging arrangement for Magic. Basically, if your character is going to specialize in Magic anyway, you might as well get a (small) discount. Note that these Powers can qualify for the Chaos-Based Magic Discount!
Basic Magic [40]
This is a combination of Power Words (no more than five), Sorcery, and Conjuration. Therefore, anyone having this Power must also have an Endurance of at least Chaos Rank.

Fount of Power
This Power may or may not exist. Have your character ask Jasra. . . . I dare you.
